What Is A Restoration Levy?

For over a century, Dreamland has been the beating heart of Margate, bringing quality entertainment and an eclectic programme of live music to visitors from far and wide. Over the years Dreamland’s history has had more twists and turns than a white-knuckle ride, but the value that has held true over the decades, is to entertain and delight.
Now, we are cementing our reputation as the premiere entertainment venue in the Southeast. By the end of 2023 we hosted 26 outdoor gigs, 37 indoor shows and 14 other performances, bringing a diverse range of artists from Queens of the Stone Age to Chase & Status, Primal Scream and Happy Mondays to Sir Tom Jones (twice!) This, in turn, saw thousands of visitors coming to enjoy not only Dreamland, but also the delights of Margate too.
Providing a top-quality visitor experience for event goers coming to our listed venues means we need to spend a vast amount of money on the upkeep and development of Dreamland. From ensuring there are enough facilities to providing great production, it all adds up.
So, from 2024 we are bringing in a restoration levy to our ticket prices for live music, which will go straight into an investment pot. For indoor events the levy will be £1:00 and for our outdoor events, £2:00.
We will be open about where we spend the restoration fee. We’ll publish updates on our website, setting out what we have achieved and which future projects we’re concentrating on next.
We know that Dreamland holds a special place in the hearts of our visitors, and we want to ensure that Dreamland continues to entertain and delight way into the future. This is a great opportunity for everyone who enjoys live performances with us, to help ensure that Dreamland maintains and exceeds its reputation as THE place to enjoy live music.
