Betty thinks of herself as Dreamland's nanny, nurturing the white knuckle funsters of tomorrow by introducing them to their first rollercoaster experience. She has a classic figure of eight layout. Of course, linguistics fans will obviously know that the German word for rollercoaster is “achterbahn” - the literal meaning being “figure of eight railway”. (“Acht” = eight and “bahn” = railway.) Betty is proud of her German links but has never visited the country. “Ich möchte Deutschland zu besuchen, aber es ist schwer, die Zeit zu finden, wenn ich so beschäftigt bin,” she says. We'll see what we can do.
