Our vrooming marvellous set of motorcycles was constructed in 1934, during the explosion in popularity of Speedway meetings in Britain. Originally, these types of rides used wooden animals on the carousel, but in a bid to attract older kids, imitation dirt bikes – such as these ones, meticulously renovated by the late Albert Smith – came to be used. Of course, this is where a rider shows their grit and technical ability, as they rely purely on the clutch and throttle to manoeuvre this lump of sharp metal and hot rubber round a muddy hair pin bend at 80mph!
Height: You must been 0.9m tall to climb aboard the Speedway. Anyone under 1.2m tall must be accompanied by and adult aged over 16.
