Dreamland Margate today announces more huge music news following last weekend’s sold out Demon Dayz festival.

Back for its third year at Dreamland, By The Sea festival will take place on Friday 29th September – Sunday 1st October 2017 and will extend to become a three-day event for the first time.

Headlining on the Friday night is Everything Everything. Over the course of three albums, the quartet have risen from a cult underground favourite to become one of the nation’s biggest and most uncompromising bands. Along the way, they’ve been nominated for three Ivor Novellos and the Mercury Prize, and are about to embark upon a sold-out tour.

With a string of rare yet consistently sold-out shows under their belt since the album release; By The Sea will present Metronomy with a chance to play to an intimate crowd in a particularly striking environment on Saturday 30th September.

Bringing the festival to a close on Sunday night will be The Libertines. With a discography full of iconic anthems and the compelling connections between frontmen Carl Barât and Peter Doherty, the band need no introduction and promises a set of perfect festival material.

A full supporting cast of artists and DJs will be announced soon.

Tickets go on general sale this Friday 16th June at 9am. Single-day, two-day and full weekend tickets will be available via dreamland.co.uk.

There will also be a presale for Kent residents on Wednesday 14th June at 9am. Link: http://bit.ly/BTS17KentSale

Dreamland Margate
Dreamland Margate is considered to be the oldest-surviving amusement park in Great Britain: the site of Dreamland (as it was re-named in 1920) dates back to the British railway boom and the early 1870s when, in its original form, the ‘Hall by the Sea’ was operated by the circus tycoon, ‘Lord’ George Sanger.

Following a £25 million investment from Arrowgrass Capital Parners, Dreamland reopened in May 2017. The park has been re-landscaped and has meticulously restored vintage rides, world-class entertainment spaces, modern interactive art installations, contemporary street food, eclectic bars, live entertainment, with a backdrop of Margate beach. It is less than 90 minutes from London by train with Margate Station only a 5-minute walk away.

By The Sea
This year’s event follows two sold out years which featured a brace of memorable performances from Foals, Hot Chip, Wolf Alice, Super Furry Animals, Bat For Lashes, Wild Beasts as well as newer stars Loyle Carner, The Big Moon, Jagwar Ma, Let’s Eat Grandma, Teleman, Sink The Pink, Blaenavon, plus many more.

For the third year running, By The Sea will base most of its activities at the iconic Dreamland amusement park in Margate. Dreamland has been the backdrop for unforgettable live performances by the likes of The Who, The Rolling Stones and T-Rex – a tradition that continues today with By The Sea.

By The Sea’s fringe programme will also spill across Margate during the weekend. Guests can start the day with a bracing swim at the Walpole Bay tidal pool or breakfast with DJs at Cliff’s before heading to the old town for some intimate acoustic performances at the Margate Museum or cocktails and live music on the beach at Nayland Rocks. After-parties will also run late into the night at a variety of local haunts.

With an enviable range of talent performing at an iconic location in one of the nation’s hottest towns, By The Sea is quickly becoming a vital highlight of the festival calendar.
