Last Saturday’s (29th July) special all-day Sunset Session saw the likes of The Cuban Brothers and Radio 1’s Danny Howard take to the outdoor Scenic Stage at Dreamland Margate - with surprise special guest Jess Glynne headlining the show. Fans were treated to a hit-packed set from the star, who performed number one singles including ‘Hold My Hand’.
The event saw 15,000 people make their way through the doors throughout the day and evening. There was an authentic festival atmosphere as the weather kept to true British tradition and visitors braved the rain.
The next Sunset Sessions take place this Friday and Saturday. Bring Your Own Brass (Friday) will be bringing the naughtiest noughties mashups, spine-tingling hip-hop licks and some tasty latin and tropical flavours to the park, fresh from playing at Glastonbury. The fun starts at 6pm.
On the weekend of Jamaican Independence Day, the mighty Trojan Sound System returns to Dreamland on Saturday. A legendary team of selecta and vocalists, they relentlessly tour the globe representing the most seminal Reggae and Ska record label in history. It's time to escape the rat race, dust off the braces, polish the boots and join the crew that broke Reggae music and culture back into contemporary clubs and festivals. Trojan Sound's Daddy Ad will be joined by his full team of vocalists Supa4 Creation, Jah Buck, Chucky Bantan and will feature the legendary Reggae artist, Big Youth.
Other performances on the day will come from local crew Ramrock Hi-fi who will be presenting a special set hosted by UK producer and DJ pioneer Ashley Beedle and Ramrock head honcho Jo Wallace. They'll be selecting and toasting you through a special History of Black music set, focusing on the evolution of Jamaican music and featuring vocalists Greg Blackman, Mark Professor from Wreck it up Crew and Taz. Real Roots Sound System will be kicking off the celebrations with Roots vocalist Ramon Judah and Jon1st, the former World DMC Champion, will be scratching his way through an exclusive Sound System set. Music will start from 4pm, with the Sunset Session wristband offer starting at 6pm.
Dreamland’s Sunset Sessions run until 10pm and are free to enter. In addition to the live music, there is a special wristband offer. Unlimited ride wristbands during the Sunset Sessions are priced at £12.50 for Big Kids (over 1.25m) and £9.00 for Little Kids (under 1.25m).
Free tickets to all of the park’s Sunset Sessions are available in advance online via dreamland.co.uk. Booking is highly recommended.
