Dreamland Margate announces a wave of new events for the summer
9th May 2018
Dreamland Margate today announces four new events are set to take place at the park this summer.
Dreamland x One Love Festival
On Saturday 7th July, Dreamland teams up with one of the UK’s top ska and reggae festivals to bring Dreamland x One Love Festival to the indoor Hall By The Sea venue at the Margate amusement park. Headlining the show will be musical legend Lee “Scratch” Perry with support from Mad Professor featuring Dawn Penn, and Earl Gateshead and Dan Wiltshire. Tickets are on sale now via dreamland.co.uk.
The Dreamland Block Party
Another all-new event will be The Dreamland Block Party, taking place across the amusement park on Saturday 21st July. Free with park entry, the Block Party takes inspiration from New York street parties, blending street style, music, dance and sports. Professional BMX flatland rider and three-time Guinness World Record Holder Matti Hemmings will be presenting a BMX competition and designer to the stars, Siobhan Hogan, will be fronting an interactive marketplace. There will be DJs and MCs playing funk and soul, rap and hip-hop, B.supreme will be leading hip-hop dancing and Yo! Street Zone will be teaching football skills throughout the event. Pie Factory Music will also be hosting activities in song writing, recording and DJ workshops – all from their minivan studio! The Dreamland Block Party is free with park entry.
In the evening there will be an outdoor show on the Scenic Stage with a music line-up to be announced and tickets on sale very soon.
Trojan Sound System plus very special guests
After an unforgettable Sunset Session at Dreamland last year, Trojan Sound System’s 50th Birthday will be celebrated at the park on Saturday 4th August. Featuring a line-up of very special guests including Jerry Dammers of The Specials, Dawn Penn, and Jazzie B from Soul 2 Soul, this second Sunset Session from Trojan Sound System will take place on the outdoor Scenic Stage. Tickets will be on sale at 10am on Friday 11th May via dreamland.co.uk.
Heading to Dreamland’s indoor venue Hall by the Sea on Friday 24th August will be indie rockers The Rifles. Fans of the band include none other than Paul Weller, who has collaborated with them throughout their career. Tickets will go on sale at 10am on Thursday 10th May via dreamland.co.uk.
Rebecca Ellis, Senior Creative Producer at Dreamland Margate said: “This latest wave of event announcements really highlights how much is going on at Dreamland this summer. We are continually developing a vast programme of events, with many of them being completely new for 2018. We’re looking forward to what is going to be a great summer - not only for the park but the whole of Margate!”
