- New open-air thrill ride unveiled for the summer
- Lucky winner to be one of first to ride
18 July 2018: Dreamland today announces the winner of a competition to name one of its new thrill rides coming to the park this summer. With over 2,900 entries, judges selected ‘Dreamcatcher’ as the winning suggestion, deeming it to perfectly sum up the experience riders will enjoy on the new ride.
A modern take on the much-loved classic Enterprise ride, the new Dreamcatcher is an open-air thrill experience that transports riders 60 feet through the air at 25 miles per hour. Seating 24 people, two per gondola, the ride will treat visitors to an awe-inspiring experience that transforms from the horizontal to the nearly vertical.
‘Dreamcatcher’, or a derivative of the name, was suggested by 111 members of the public, with the lucky winner, Rebecca Wood, selected at random from this list. Wood wins the chance to be one of the first to experience the ride, along with up to nine friends on its opening weekend of Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July. The other 110 people who suggested ‘Dreamcatcher’ will be offered two unlimited ride wristbands for the Saturday.
Steve Gotkine, Chief Operating Officer at Dreamland comments: “We’ve had a great response to the ride naming competition which has really got people talking! We were looking for something fun, thrilling, bold and original which captures the spirit of Dreamland and this really is a fitting choice.
“The lucky winner and all those who suggested the name have secured their part in Dreamland history! We’re delighted that so many people wanted to share in the naming process and be part of Dreamland’s new look for the summer with a host of new rides and a fun family festival feel every day at the park.”
