Phil Taggart presents SLACKER with THE MAGIC GANG
20:40 Phil Taggart DJ set
21:35 The Magic Gang
BBC Radio 1’s number one riot starter Phil Taggart is taking his hugely successful SLACKER club night on the road next February, taking in Southampton, Reading and Margate, with the fast-rising indie stars The Magic Gang as special guest headliners, plus support from TOUTS.
Joining the first regional SLACKER tour are The Magic Gang. The Brighton four-pieces low-fi indie pop has won many hearts including from the likes of Wolf Alice and Felix White of The Maccabbees fame. The latter signed the band to his own record label Yala! Records early on giving them the opportunity to release their debut album. It was clearly an album that the people wanted, as it reached an impressive #12 in the UK Album Charts and helped them sell out their recent huge headline show at London’s The Forum venue and deliver blistering performances at Reading & Leeds Festivals this summer.
Tickets from £15 + booking fee in advance
This is a 14+ event, under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+.
SLACKER started three years ago in London, and the genre-melting parties have become legendary for their sweat-soaked crowds and blistering live performances from the likes of Blossoms, Slaves, Sundara Karma, Big Narstie, AJ Tracey and many more. The nights have become so popular, SLACKER took over the Big Top at Bestival this summer, with the likes of Ratboy, Shame, Black Honey, Confidence Man & Touts on the bill, and now it’s time to take SLACKER on the road this February!
Phil Taggart has been plugged into music since he was a nipper; promoting, playing in bands and DJ-ing since he was just 15 years old. Now a don at BBC Radio 1, taking over the airways on Sunday and Monday nights, Phil’s madcap, high energy style and ear-melting mix of cutting edge dancefloor fillers sees him cover for Annie Mac whenever she’s away. As well as radio, Phil’s earned his status as a new music savant running his own Hometown Records label; fronting both Channel 4 and Vevo’s new music shows; DJing at Europe’s biggest club nights and festivals; and curating and running his legendary Slacker nights.
