Our friends at Visit Thanet have come up with a brilliant guide on how families can have fun this in Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Margate and beyond!

Check out their recommendations for summer activities below…

It is never too early to plan for the Summer Holidays! Hop from our sandy beaches to top-rated visitor attractions all summer long and make some amazing memories! Here are a few family-fun suggestions from us:

Happiness is a day at the beach!

Sometimes all it takes is sunshine, sandy sandwiches, an ice cream and a dip in the sea to make the best memories. Did you know all our beaches are sandy? (The best kind of beach)  And we’ve racked up some impressive awards too. More of an active family? Master the waves in a surfing lesson or become an ocean detective with our amazing Coastal Explorers packs - exclusive to Thanet and stacked full of games for families. Seashore Safaris run by The Thanet Coast Project are top of the list too! Round it off nicely with a coastal trip on the Open Top Bus between Broadstairs and Ramsgate and you’ve got seaside days out sorted!

An inland adventure at Monkton Nature Reserve.

A 16-acre nature site in a former chalk quarry, home to dinosaur and fairy trails, endless wild flowers and picturesque scenes. Enjoy a bit of bird-spotting, pond-dipping, picnic-munching and butterfly-watching; it’s all here for kids and adults. Don’t forget your camera!

A little bit of everything at Quex Park

Expect the unexpected. An inspiring, award-winning museum with a special handling collection, ‘Gallery 6,’ where kids (and big kids!) can get up close to curious animal skeletons or make some noise with original African instruments. One the same site you’ll also find: a children’s indoor and outdoor play centre, a craft village, paintball & laser rush, build-a-base Nerf centre, farm shop and restaurant, mini-golf, a giant maize maze and more! If you fit all that into one visit we salute you!

All these animals…in Margate?

Turner Contemporary’s current exhibition ‘Animals & Us’ explores our relationship with animals through a range of mediums. Enjoy Easy Sunday and Easy Holiday family workshops and child-friendly, participatory displays. (There are some incredible animal headpieces to try on!) The gallery is also bringing the amazing life-size puppet Paula the Polar Bear to the town this summer.

A festival vibe every day at Dreamland

Last, but certainly no means least, we’ve got to mention our hosts, Dreamland Margate. From the kitsch indoor play haven which is the Octopus’s Garden, to rocking on skates in the retro roller room, to screaming round all the vintage rides, there’s some amazing fun to be had! That’s not all- this summer you’ll marvel at the resident aerial circus, and find appearances from Peppa Pig, Justin Fletcher and so much more! The tiny animals in the Dreamland Ark are adorable and we love that the park is 2 minutes from the beach. This summer, we’re most looking forward to trying the new rides, especially the towering Dreamland Drop!
