DREAMLAND PROMS – TOP TIPS

DREAMLAND PROMS – TOP TIPS

The first ever Dreamland Proms takes place on Saturday 15th June, with the BBC Big Band and Claire Martin MBE providing the best swing, jazz and big band tunes for all to enjoy. The park will be primed for deck chairs, picnic blankets and strawberry punnets-a-plenty for this glorious outdoor show, and we’re certain the balmy weather will be with us on the night. And with tickets costing just £15 plus booking fee, you can’t argue with the value!

If you’ve never been to an open-air concert and are planning to make Dreamland Proms your first foray, we’ve got some top tips for making the most of what’s sure to be a sun-soaked sultry evening…

BRING A SWEET PICNIC

Dreamland has relaxed its picnic policy for the event, so guests can bring their own snacks to keep hunger at bay – just remember no glass or metal cutlery please! Our food stalls will be churning out savoury goodies in the food court including fish & chips, BBQ and pizza, so why not bring your own homemade sweet treats for dessert? Scones with jam and cream (or is it cream and jam?), chocolate-dipped strawberries, or your own flavoured popcorn – get creative with the family! And there’s always our all-natural crazy flavoured candy floss on park if you need a back up.

BRING A PORTABLE CHAIR

Portable camping chairs that fold flat or to a smaller size are permitted on site for the show, so pick your kit wisely and arrive early to bag a great spot. You can also lay out a traditional picnic blanket or get that prime spot on the Dreamland steps with elevated views of the stage and your fellow dreamers. Perfect for people watching!

BUY YOUR FIZZ ON SITE

As always you can’t bring alcohol into the site, but our on-park bars will be selling beers, spirits, wine and essential fizz for the evening so don’t panic! We’ll have two bars providing essential refreshments, and there’s even a cocktail van serving mojitos, aperol spritz and other fizz-based fun. Why not bring extra fresh fruit or mint to spruce up your drinks?

DRESS UP DREAMLAND STYLE

It is the Proms after all, so make an effort and don your favourite glad rags for the evening with a splash of Dreamland colour and flair. We’re stylish, not stiff so break out those 1950s polka dots, that 1940s glam, that Jazz era flapper dress, or those snappy braces and crazy waistcoats. And keep an eye on the Dreamland Proms Facebook Event – we might just have some style tutorial videos for hair and make-up arriving soon! And best to pack a lightweight jacket or wrap for the evening if it turns chilly.

OR JUST TREAT YOURSELF TO AN UPGRADE

If you want the best seats in the house set up for you, then opt for a Golden Circle ticket. These tickets cost just £20 plus booking fee, and guarantee you a deck chair seat right in front of the stage. The chairs are unallocated but are only accessible to Golden Ticket holder, AND you will also have exclusive access to your own bar where you can purchase or pre-order interval drinks. A little more lux for a lovely night out…
